This is no ordinary wheat beer. This one is a wheat wine.Never heard of wheat wine? It's a fairly recent American strong ale that's analogous to a barleywine in strength, but contains a large portion of wheat malt. The wheat provides a soft and fluffy mouthfeel compared to a barleywine, making it a more accessible stong ale for some. We think this one's extremely appoachable.

Dirty amber in color because it's unfiltered, it's more than 50% wheat malt. Full bodied with just a hint of malty sweetness, we brew it specifically with celebration in mind. It lingers on the palate with a surprising hint of hops, even at low IBU levels. It's Carnivale season in New Orleans when we put it on tap, and since we can't be there, we can party right here in CBus with the extremely sessionable Basin Street Wheat.

Basin Street was the main street of Storyville, the notorious red-light district of early twentieth century NOLA. In 1928, Louis Armstrong recorded a song called Basin Street Blues, written by Sepencer Williams in 1926. Today, it's a song often performed by Dixieland jazz bands.
