American craft beer has done it again. We’ve created another beer style. This time: Session IPA.

Session IPA is an oxymoron. We all know that IPAs are hoppy versions of Pale Ale. Sometimes very hoppy.

A session beer is one you can drink several of without getting sloppy. The challenge is marrying the two.

IPAs need more malt to keep up with all those IBUs in the hops. More malt means more alcohol.

Since Session IPAs are less than 5.0% ABV, it gets tricky to brew without resulting in a thin, one dimensional beer.

The intention is to provide a flavorful, big-tasting beer that won’t weigh you down. Easier said than brewed.
